Bones

First inspired by a dolphin backbone found on the beach I began sketching it, then tearing up the drawing and working it into a mixed media piece. I became interested in the connotations of broken bones and how they relate to the broken ways we can feel and to ideas about mortality. A visits to The Harvard Museum of Natural History and their collection of animal skeletons provided further opportunities for more sketching and photographing, which in turn led to the series.
